Privacy policy
CueCut is made by Kingsbridge Consultancy LLC ("we", "us"). It's built so that your recordings never need to leave your computer. This page explains the little we do handle. We don't sell data, show ads, or use advertising trackers, and CueCut sets no cookies.
1. Your recordings, scripts and captions
- Recording, editing, captions and export all happen in your browser. Your videos, audio, scripts and captions are stored in your browser (and in a folder on your computer, if you choose one). They are not uploaded to us.
- Podcasts: each guest's recording, the shared script, and the script position pass through our relay server to the host while the session is running. The relay passes them straight through and stores none of it.
- Virtual backgrounds are worked out on your computer; the camera image isn't sent anywhere.
2. Speech recognition
For "Follow my voice" and automatic captions, CueCut uses your browser's built-in speech recognition where it's available. In Chrome and Edge, the browser sends your speech to its maker (Google or Microsoft) to turn it into text, under their privacy policies. Where that isn't available, or if you turn on CueCut's private, on-device option, speech is recognised on your computer and no audio leaves it; the speech model is downloaded from our servers once.
3. Anonymous usage counts
To learn how CueCut is used, the app sends a few anonymous events — for example "visited", "finished the tour", "started a recording" (with its length and settings such as the scroll mode or format), "exported", and app errors. Each comes with your country and browser type (not your IP address) and a random number for that browser tab, forgotten when you close it. Nothing you say, write or record is included. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, CueCut sends nothing at all. These counts are kept for up to 400 days.
4. If you buy a plan
- Stripe processes your payment. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- We keep the email address you paid with, your plan, the amount and the date — so you can switch your plan on in other browsers, so we can help you and give refunds, and for our accounting and tax records.
- When you ask for a sign-in link, we send it with Postmark, our email provider.
- Your browser keeps a signed "plan key" (no name or email in it) so CueCut knows your plan.
5. If you ask for tips and launch news
After your first export, CueCut offers to keep you posted. If you enter your email there, we keep it to send occasional tips and news about CueCut, and nothing else. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe, or email support@getcuecut.com and we’ll remove you.
6. What's stored in your browser
CueCut uses your browser's storage (not cookies) for your takes, settings, plan key, and whether you've seen the tour. Clearing your browser's site data for getcuecut.com removes it all.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, or to delete it, by emailing support@getcuecut.com. If we delete your purchase record, we may need to keep what tax law requires, and you won't be able to switch your plan on in a new browser by email.
8. Children
CueCut isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
9. Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
